Happy Birthday, Deutscher Comicverein!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true: the German Comics Association completed its tenth year of activity in 2024! And where hasn’t it had a significant hand in everything… Here’s a little “best of”:

The Berlin Comic Scholarship, the German-language comic stand in Angoulême, the working scholarship for comic artists from the German Literature Fund, numerous workshops for refugees, children and young people, countless events with comic artists from all over the world, collaborations, events and exhibitions with museums, galleries, bookshops, institutions, ministries, festivals and projects such as the Alphabet of Arrival, FondsBeton, the Panel Parade, Comicexpansion and many more.

All of this in collaboration with many people who are enthusiastic about and committed to sequential art, be it comics, manga or other formats of visual stories. Two of our most important collaborators and personalities have sadly left us too soon, but they still warm our hearts: Laëtita Graffart and Stefan Neuhaus. Their commitment and creativity continue to give us new energy.

Modest as we are, we celebrated in a small group at the last general meeting on November 20, 2024 with homemade cake and grinned to ourselves with satisfaction at what we as volunteers have achieved over the years. With many thanks to all our supporters and an attentive look into the future, we wish all comic activists and ourselves only the best for the coming decades!
