11th Manga Contest 2026, organized by the German-Japanese Society
The German-Japanese Society Berlin has been organizing its popular manga competition every two years since 2005—with support from the German Comic Association, among others. The goal is to promote manga as an art form, increase its acceptance in Germany, and deepen relations between Germany and Japan among young people through engagement with the topic of manga. This year marks the 11th edition of the competition, which is once again being held in collaboration with the Japanese-German Society in Tokyo. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2026.
The chosen theme is:
“Who’s There? – The Fantastic World of Yōkai”
