A Brief History of Indonesian Comics

The artist Sheila Roswitha Putri introduced her German audience to the comics culture in Indonesia. In cooperation with the comics bookseller Modern Graphics, Berlin, and with the support of the Indonesian Embassy, the German Comics Association organised a presentation night on November 24, 2017. Sheila Roswitha Putri is one of Indonesia’s most well-known comic artists thanks to her comic blogs about her family. More than 50 guests came to the artist’s PowerPoint presentation, in which she presented the beginnings of modern comics in Indonesia, all the way through to the most current trends, complemented by numerous examples in paper form.
