Performance with Mikael Ross

On the 27^th of November 2019, the American Memorial Library, together with the German Comics Association, hosted a graphic novel performance with Mikael Ross. The artist presented his book, “Der Umfall”, and discussed the creative process and design of the book with Axel Halling.

Told from the perspective of a young man with an intellectual disability, Ross’ book uses strong, expressive colours to follow the protagonist as he settles in to a care facility. The story is based on research carried out in the Neuerkerode Lutheran Foundation. To round off the evening, visitors to the event were able to create their own small comics under the direction of Mikael Ross.
